Before even turning on the key you can get a good gage on the comfortably of a car just by sitting in the drivers seat.  If the car feels comfortable from your first impression take the next steps:

• Ensure that you can get in and out of the car comfortably.  
• Move your legs and arms around to ensure that you have enough leg room and arm room in the driver’s seat.
• Determine if the wheel and the seat are easily adjustable. 
• Make sure that you can comfortably reach the pedals and adjust the radio and other dashboard controls easily.
• Ensure that the mirrors are adjustable for visibility and that the seatbelt works as it should. 

After determining that you have found a car that fits you physically you can then move on to phase two of the test drive. Phase two consists of ensuring that the car sounds as good as it looks and feels.
