India Should Abolish Reservation System

India should abolish reservation system?

           Time has come when India should abolish reservation system and the concept of equality initiated through the Constitution should be reinstalled. The reservation system introduced through the Constitution could not attain the targets which were in view of the makers of the constitution and most of the people in reserved categories have been left behind and benefit had been available only to a few of them.  The people who got benefit under these reservation schemes are not taking all others in their categories with them, rather these categories who had been getting some benefits are trying to merge in the socalled higher categories and have got no love for their own people.

             We started with reservations for the members of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and then we started giving benefit of reservation to backward  classes.  Slowely and steadly we had been introducing in these reserved categories, ex-servicemen, sportsmen, physically handicapped, freedom fighters, people adversely effected by terrorist activities. Now Muslims are demanding reservation, tomorrow Sikhs shall demand reservation, then Christians shall follow.  And we fear a time shall come when common people shall be having no share left for them in all the fields of social and administrative life.

                Reservation means appointments and selections on compassionate grounds.  This is bad and we should not turn our administration as an orphanage for the weak.  We must strengthen the weak by giving him proper education, proper training, proper adjustment at work and proper earning, but for all these he must try himself and must prepare himself for this competitive life ahead.  The state may help these down people and prepare them for the competition, but none should be given job on compassionate grounds because it shall lead to further inefficiency in all the fields of social life.

             The people of India must take up these issues and they must decide the final fate of this country.  The people in political field are interested in votes because they come in power with these votes and thys reservation system had been helping them a lot.  They must be stopped to have benefit of this reservation system and they too must win in elections on their own merits.  But this reservation system must go and must be written off from all the statutory books.
