Learning How To Grow Weed Is A Sex Bomb?

The stage of ‘sexing’ when cultivating marijuana is absolutely essential if you want to get to the point where you never need to rely on others to supply your weed and never worry that you may ever run out. Sexing is the process of locating and removing male plants from the crop because they hold absolutely minimal usefulness for us. It is in fact the female plant that contains the ability to supply you all the potency you will ever need when it comes to psycho active effects for recreational and medicinal use. So after lots of wasted time and effort I want to give you the best of what I’ve learnt about this stage so you don’t have to go through any unnecessary pain.

When a female plant is not pollinated it will siphon a large percentage of energy in its growth phase into developing flower buds and swelling them with a potent resin that carries weed’s psychoactive power. This is a way for the flower to increase its chances of pollination by harnessing sticky flowers to capture pollen. On the other hand, if the flower is pollinated it will instead transmute a lot of its energy toward seed production.

Your plants usually develop the signs of their sex one to two weeks into flowering and for the first seven days of this flowering there is no need to worry about males pollinating your crop.

HOW TO TELL IF YOUR PLANT IS MALE

The male plant is often, but not always, tall with stout stems, sporadic branching, and few leaves. By looking at the inter-nodes where leaf and branch stems connect with the main stalk you will detect when a male has entered the stage of flower development as a bud will start to grow little balls somewhere between the size of a marijuana seed and a popcorn seed. These balls will have NO WHITE HAIRS coming from them whereas female plants will have no balls but will have small white hairs.

One ball is not definitive it is a male since female pistils can often split from a small single ball that opens. But if there are two or three balls in a cluster you can rest assure that you have a male plant. From here, males should be withdrawn from the crop and destroyed to prevent any releasing of pollen.

HOW TO TELL IF YOUR PLANT IS FEMALE

It is very simple to identify if your plant is a female; they sprout white hairs. From the female plant a small ball will form and split which enables two tiny white hairs to emerge which are called pistils and are designed to catch pollen. These hairs (pistils) will begin to curl slightly and even grow longer and thicker.

These pistils are sticky too touch (remember not to touch them too much as they contain your much needed THC). Why the stickiness? This is used by the female to catch floating pollen that passes nearby. If the female plant has not been pollinated she will try to grow more sticky areas to increase her chances further. This constant energy from the female enlarges her bud which is exactly what we are after!

During the period of peak flowering by the female, her pistils will begin to change their colour. The most common change of colour is usually from a white to a red tint or a white to a brown tint. This is the signpost that tells you she is ready to be harvested and enjoyed.
