Nokia C1 and C2 dual-SIM phones announced

Today Nokia announced two new mobile phone handsets that are not only affordable, but have support for two SIM cards.

The C1, priced at around €30, allows users to switch between using one SIM card and another, which makes it suitable for travellers. Users select which SIM card to use and away they go. The C2 (pictured), on the other hand, allows users to use both SIM cards simultaneously. This means users can make or receive calls and text messages from two separate numbers, without having to preselect one or the other. This is the more advanced of the two new handsets and is priced at around €45.

Both handsets may lack 3G connectivity, but they do come with Bluetooth, a VGA camera, microSD card slot, media player and FM radio as standard. The C2 also includes Ovi Mail, chat and a web browser. These handsets are expected to be released later this year.

Nokia also anncounced their new bicycle charging kit, also expected to be released this year, providing an eco-friendly option to those where electricity is not readily available. Alex Lambeek, Vice President at Nokia said “now, with our innovative bike charger, people get even more freedom to use their Nokia without worrying about battery life. Bicycles are the most widespread means of transport in many markets around the world, so this is just one more benefit to be gained from an activity people are already doing. This is a great solution to a real challenge, whether people will use it due to limited access to electricity, or to be more environmentally responsible.”
