Katy Perry Tickets – Katy Perry Records Follow-Up To Breakthrough Album

Katy Perry proved she was ‘one of the boys’ with her 2008 breakthrough album, and now MTV News reports that the “I Kissed a Girl” singer is readying the follow-up to her Grammy nominated effort. Perry chatted about her forthcoming new album while on the orange carpet for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards on March 27 and told MTV, “I’m so excited! It’s so exciting. It’s coming out this summer. It’s a summer record.” Perry has been spending some time in the studio with an eclectic batch of collaborators ranging from Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo to hitmakers like Dr. Luke and Max Martin.

When asked what fans can expect from her as-yet-untitled forthcoming album, Perry said, “It’s what I said I wanted earlier. We nailed it: It’s roller-skating! It’s ’90s! It’s Ace of Base! It’s Cyndi Lauper! It’s like all these colors and more.” Although Perry wasn’t able to work with producer Calvin Harris like she’d hoped, the California native did hint that the album might feature “some really cool guest appearances by some cool rappers from the West Coast,” adding, “I mean, you’ll just have to see, since I’m a California girl, you know. Katy Perry was among those slimed at the 23rd annual Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, held at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion. Wearing a figure-flattering floral dress and sporting a blue wig, Perry took the stage to present teen queen Miley Cyrus with her award for Favorite Movie Actress when she was slimed! Perry chased Cyrus around the stage after being smothered in green goo but co-presenter Jonah Hill grabbed her in an embrace before she could catch the Hannah Montana star. Perry mock-complained to the crowd, saying, “I can’t see anything. Why does it taste like boogers?”

In addition to recording her new album, Katy Perry has been busy planning her upcoming wedding. The singer and British comedian Russell Brand (you know him from Forgetting Sarah Marshall) became engaged in December 2009 and Perry recently told MTV.com that her groom is a bona fide bridezilla! Speaking about her fiancé, Perry dished, “He’s a total bridezilla. He’s like a freak, man. You should see—he’s always, like, buying bride magazines. Every time we go out for breakfast he’s like, ‘Can we just stop and get a bride magazine?’”

Katy Perry’s blue wig at the Kids Choice Awards may be a tribute to an upcoming film role, as Variety reports that the singer is among those in talks to participate in a live-action version of The Smurfs. George Lopez, Alan Cumming and original cartoon voice actor Jonathan Winters have been confirmed for the cast, while MTV reported in early March that Neil Patrick Harris will also participate in the live action movie. The Smurfs will be directed by Raja Gosnell, the man behind both Scooby-Doo live action flicks. Winters will play Papa Smurf while Lopez and Cumming will lend their vocals to Grouchy Smurf and Gutsy Smurf, respectively. If Perry does appear in The Smurfs, it will be as a Smurfette!
