4 Simple Tips that Lead to Higher Dollar Store Sale Levels

Those who open a dollar store soon find one of their biggest challenges to be continually increasing the sales levels for their store.  Most are focused on doing everything possible to cut costs.  Yet just as costs decrease, sales must also increase.  The good news is there are many quick and easy tactics that can lead to significant increases in dollar store sale levels for your business.  It is a matter of developing a set of actions in support of each, and then executing to the actions you’ve developed.  In this article I present 4 simple tips that lead to higher sales levels.

#1) Advertise and promote your business at every opportunity.  Every entrepreneur who is about to open a dollar store needs to become a marketer.  Use every opportunity to promote your business.  Pass out your business cards to everyone you meet.  Business cards are an inexpensive way to remind everyone about your business and where it is located.  Next be sure to establish and use an advertising budget to build sales.  While it’s unfair to expect huge traffic increases immediately, keeping your name in front of prospective shoppers will reward you over time.

#2) Build the average dollar store sale size for your business.  Capitalize on impulse items and hot sellers to increase the average sale size for your store.  Be sure you are totally aware of what your customers need and want.  Then provide exactly those products.  Properly promoting all of these will be a beginning to your efforts of growing the amount every shopper spends in your store.

#3) Build the number of transactions per day in your store.  Do everything possible to keep your store’s name and location in front of prospective shoppers.  Make the shopping experience so positive that customers tell their friends and relatives about your store.  Take action that will bring shoppers into your store for the first time.  Then reward them with an extremely positive experience while they are there.

#4) When you open a dollar store get creative when purchasing merchandise.  Buy all or part of the inventory from retailers who are closing their businesses.  Take advantage of trade show specials.  Buy wholesale distributor overstocks and closeouts.  Leave a standing order with sales reps that you will purchase their sales samples from shows and other events. Do everything possible to purchase new, interesting items and hot sellers for shoppers.  Then sell them at great prices.  You’ll soon see dollar store sale levels growing and increased profits won’t be far behind.
